Mini Tummy Tuck


If you are bothered about your sagging belly and wish to get rid of it, a mini tummy tuck can help you. A mini tummy tuck or partial abdominoplasty is a procedure of removing excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen giving you a flat and fit looking tummy.

A mini tummy tuck is the shorter version of a full tummy tuck and is widely preferred by the patients since it is less risky and less painful than a full tummy tuck.

The prerequisite for a mini tuck is that there should be no weakening of the rectus muscle (rectus divarication) or hernias and that there should not be too much sagging of the belly button.

Procedures

  • Before the surgery, your overall health condition is evaluated.
  • The surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia.
  • During the surgery, a small incision is made in the lower belly.
  • The doctor does liposuction and also removes the excess skin from below the belly button.
  • The procedure takes around two-three hours.
  • The incision is closed with absorbable sutures that don’t need to be removed and a dressing is applied on top.
  • Once you have recovered completely from anesthesia, you are sent home.

Risks

The risks and side effects of having a mini tummy tuck are relatively low. However, you may rarely experience minor complications after the surgery as follows:

  • Soon after the surgery, you may experience pain and discomfort in the lower belly
  • infection
  • Accumulation of fluid
  • Swelling
  • Changes in skin sensation
  • Excessive bleeding under the skin

Recovery

After the surgery, you are provided with a compression garment for quick healing. You need to wear the garment for at least two weeks. Usually, it takes one to two weeks to recover completely and get back to work. Follow the instructions given by the doctor.
