Laser Treatments
Advances in laser technology have contributed much to the field of cosmetic correction. Today, it is widely used to treat conditions such as accumulated fat, excess body hair, acne, scars, and pigmentation
The technique entails directing a razor-thin but intense beam of light on the area of the skin needing treatment. Because of it being a non-invasive procedure, it carries very little risk of causing damage to surrounding skin areas. Also, recovery time of the patient being treated is brief.
Types of lasers in use
- Ablative Skin Rejuvenation Lasers- these lasers generally Carbon DiOxide lasers or Erbium YAG lasers, are used to vapourise the very top layer of skin, to get rid of dead skin build up, pigment, wrinkles. These are generally associated with a 5 – 8 day healing period.
- Non-ablative Skin Rejuvenation Lasers- as the name suggests these laser or light devices, such as Diode lasers, IPL, or RF use energy to cause heat changes in the deeper layer (dermis) of the skin without damaging the top layer of the skin ensuring tightening of the skin and wrinkle or scar reduction without causing surface damage to skin. These lasers typically have none to very little downtime.
- Hair Removal Lasers – these are generally Diode or Nd YAG lasers that are used to achieve Permanent Hair Reduction.
- Fractional Lasers – these use either C02 lasers, Erbium lasers, or Radio-Frequency devices delivered as thousands of tiny dots on a grid, that cause selective focused damage to the skin. Given their nature these have a very predictable and short downtime and can be used in all skin types. Typically they are used in Scar Reduction and Skin Rejuvenation.
- Q Switched Lasers – these use Nano Second bursts of laser energy to breakdown pigment molecules either in tattoo removal, skin pigmentation or birth mark removal.
- Vascular Lasers – eg Pulse Dye lasers or Nd YAG lasers are used to reduce thread veins on face or legs.

Different Laser Treatments
Laser Hair Reduction
Laser hair reduction is one of the most common laser procedures. It is a safe and effective method to remove unwanted body hair. During the treatment, highly concentrated laser light is flashed on the hair follicles. The pigment in the hair follicle growth centre absorbs the light and destroys the hair growth centre without damaging the surrounding skin.
What are the benefits of Laser hair removal?
The benefits of hair removal are as follows:
- Laser treatment is safe and effective
- Laser treatment drastically reduces hair growth, freeing its recipient from the pain of waxing and threading for at least a few months
- Laser treatment makes the skin soft, smooth and helps improve the overall appearance
- The treatment removes dark, coarse hair from any part of the body without damaging the surrounding skin
Laser Thread Vein Removal
Thread veins are a common problem that occurs in adults. These are enlarged capillary veins that appear in the surface of the skin in lines or web-like pattern. These unwanted thread veins can be removed by directing laser light on it.
What are the Benefits of Laser Thread Vein Removal?
Some of the benefits of laser thread vein removal are as follows:
- It is a safe procedure
- Treats all types of skin
- Can treat all areas of the body and the face
- Thread veins, spider veins, and broken capillaries disappear and the candidate gets a clearer skin
