Male breast or Gynecomastia is a condition in which a young man has a womanly breast enlargement. Dissolving sutures are taken and a Pressure Garment is put on top of the dressings. The patient is kept in hospital for a 24-hour observation and then discharged. There is very little pain following surgery, and most patients are back to normal activities in 3 – 5 days. The Pressure garment should be worn for 1 month 24/7 being taken off only for taking a bath. Your surgeon might advice additional wearing of the garment. While you will see the result the very next day, the result will improve and stabilize over the next 1 – 3 months. It is highly unlikely and rare for the gynecomastia to come back once removed.
