Liposuction: Arms
Arms are the most visible part of the body and also prone to fat accumulation that can be due to ageing or general weight gain. This fat is difficult to remove through exercise and diet. Woman who want a perfect physique often lack toned and slender arms. These woman opt for arm liposuction that give them overall thinner appearance and more confidence to wear short or no sleeves.
Liposuction give slender appearance to the arms while keeping the whole body proportionate. Liposuction of upper and lower arm is among the most common form of liposuction procedure performed today.
Who is the right candidate for Arm Liposuction?
Liposuction of arms is almost exclusively performed on women as women do not want muscular or masculine arms. Moreover the fat around arm does not reduce with exercise or diet. So any woman whose arms are bulky but otherwise have thin body is a good candidate of arm liposuction. Liposuction is done to make the body look proportionate and remove irregularities of fat.
Procedure
Liposuction of arms is the technique that yield maximum patient satisfaction and provide excellent cosmetic results. Old method of liposuction required an excision of skin that leaves a scar. But with advancement of technology, now liposuction is done through micro cannulas and without any skin excision. A small incision is made near the armpit or elbow to insert the cannula. If tumescent lipo is performed then tumescent liquid is injected into arm that breaks fat before its removal through high powered suction device. Tumescent liposuction is preferred technique as tumescent liquid numbs the area and promote faster healing with less bruising. This whole procedure usually takes between 45 mins to 2 hours.
Result of Arm Liposuction
The liposuction procedure causes some stiffness, pain, swelling, burning and bleeding around the treated area. Noticeable results take some months to appear and are almost permanent. But healthy diet and lifestyle should be followed to maintain the results as arms can definitely go back to previous fatty state if patient gains excessive weight.
Consideration
Although liposuction is performed with an aim to remove excessive fat from the body but arms with no subcutaneous fat give unappealing look. If all the subcutaneous fat is removed then the arms will look skinny and unattractive. So surgeon leaves some fat beneath the skin to give normal proportionate appearance to the female arms.
The goal is not to remove the maximum possible amount of fat. Arms that are disproportionately skinny with an otherwise obese body might appear deformed rather than attractive.
